The trip in short
Three nights in Vancouver first, between sea and mountains: Stanley Park, Granville Island and English Bay. By ferry through the Gulf Islands to Victoria, for the Inner Harbour and the Butchart Gardens. The Sea-to-Sky Highway leads to Whistler, then inland: Kamloops, the Okanagan vineyards at Kelowna and Revelstoke. Through Glacier National Park and the Rogers Pass to Golden, and then the highlight: the Icefields Parkway to Jasper, with Maligne Lake and wildlife along the road. South to Banff for Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, a night in Canmore and out into the prairies, to Waterton Park, where the mountains meet the plain. The last night in Calgary, the Stampede city. The national parks, the coast and the cities of British Columbia and the Rockies in one trip, and a fine first trip to Canada.
